Tear Gas Fired To Disperse A Protest Infront Of Galaha Hospital

Riot Police had fired tear gas and water
cannons this evening  to disperse a protest campaign launched by the residents of Delthotawatte in Galaha area in front of the Galaha Base Hospital since this morning (28).

The protesters had launched the protest opposing the two doctors attached to Galaha hospital who they believed as responsible for a death of one and half year old infant admitted to the Hospital this morning to treat phlegm .

The infant was later transferred to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for further treatment and died on the way to hospital. The protesters who are residents of the area where the deceased infant lived, charged that the two doctors at the Galaha  hospital were  responsible for the infant's death as they didn't checked him at all after admission.

However according to the Hospital authorities the parents of the deceased infant had attempted to take the child to Peradeniya Hospital by a Three Wheeler by charging that the doctors were not treated him well but authorities  refused to allow it.However later the condition of the infant turned worse and later authorities have pronounced him as dead .

The Special Police Task Force Personal along with Riot Police have called to calm down the  situation as the protesters had blocked the hospital without allowing the two doctors to leave the premises .

Although the Central Provincial Health Ministry has informed the protesters that the two doctors will be transferred to the Ministry the protesters have continuously protested and pelted stones and damaged doors and windows of the Hospital it has been revealed .
