Around 40 Wild Elephants In Villages At Hambanthota Were Chased Away To A Reserve

During a special mission carried out in Katuwewa and Port Village in Hambanthota District from last friday evening(13) to Saturday evening(14)  around 40 wild elephants entered in to villages have been chased away to newly created Wild Elephant Management Reserve in Hambanthota.


Various methods including the building of the Elephant fence were adapted to chased away the Wild Elephants to the reserve.

Wild Life officers belonging to Lunugamwehera,Bundala and Hambanthota areas along with the Deputy Minister of Wild Life Palitha Thewarapperuma have been participated for this mission.
