Theldeniya Police had arrested 24
persons over acting violently and burning and damaging a religious center and properties in Digana and Theldeniya areasy this noon (05).
Out of the persons who are arrested 10 have been taken to pallekale Police and 14 have been taken to Manikhinna police .Some of them were later released on Bail and tell rest are due to be produced before the court.
More than one thousand five hundred persons have stormed in to the streets of Digana and Theldeniya this noon and damages properties following a clash occurred among two communities.
Police had fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters. However they became more violent afterwards and pelted stones at police and attacking vehicles it has been reported.
Police Curfew has been imposed now in Kandy Administrative area at the moment to calm down the situation.
