Jaffna High Court Judge M.Ilanveliyan had today(19) sentenced a person who found guilty over forcibly abducting a girl and raped her in 2011 ,a five year rigorous imprisonment suspended to two years and imposed a Rs.25,000 fine over him. The prison sentence was imposed over abduction and sexual molestation charges. The High Court Judge has stated by delivering the verdict that if the accused fails to pay the Rs.25,000 fine he will be remanded for further three month period.
The prosecutors have failed to provide substantial evidence against the accused over the incident and after the Attorney General had handed over the case to the Jaffna High Court the accused had accepted that he had committed the crime.
