Hambanthota Port Workers Postponed The Scheduled Protest Campaign And Strike

Image result for hambantota port and chinaThe Protest Campaign and the strike scheduled to be launched by the Hambanthota ,Magampura Port workers today(27) and tomorrow(28)respectively against selling of 80% of the port to a Chinese Firm  had been temporarily suspended according to the All Ceylon Common Workers Union.

After the involvement of Army Personal to resume the distribution of fuel of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation's Fuel storing complexes which stopped due to the workers strike ,Hambanthota Port workers suspended their trade union actions citing that they will face the same fate as fuel workers it has been reported.

Government has signed the agreement with a Chinese firm regarding the selling majority of the Hambanthota Port to the firm last month and the Organizers of the postponed strike has stated that they believe that government will amend the agreement and taken over the Hambanthota port to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

If the Authorities fail to do so the Hambanthota Port Workers will launch a trade union action with Fuel workers organizers have stressed.
