The Ministry Of Health ,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine is considering to double the number of Oncologists practicing in local Hospitals due to the rising number of Cancer patients in the country .
Addressing the Annual Sessions of the Sri Lanka Collage Of Oncologists held in Colombo Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has stated that the doubling the number of Oncologists in the Country which is more than 50 at present is a timely need .
Around 20,000 new Cancer patients have been diagnosed every year he has stressed.Government has removed the Rs.1.5 million limit imposed on when spending money for the treatment of a Cancer patient the Minister has further said.
