The legs of a Wild Elephant severely injured and six persons got injured and hospitalized after a Wild Elephant colliding with a Lorry on Trincomalee-Habarana main road last night(25). The six injured persons traveling in the Lorry have been admitted to the Habarana Hospital and later three of them have been transferred to Dambulle Hospital for further treatment.
The accident occurred when a Lorry transporting vegetables from Dambulle Economic Center with six persons to Trincomalee was collided with a Wild Elephant crossing the road towards Kawudulla National Park last night.
Four legs of the Wild Elephant have been severely injured due to the collision and need to treat it for days according to the veterinary doctors who are treating the Elephant at present.
Habarana Police have arrested the Driver of the Lorry and the vehicle regarding the incident.
