President Has Appointed Travis Sinnayya As The New Navy Commander

President Maithripala Sirisena has today(18) appointed the senior navy officer of Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Travis Sinnaiyya as the 21st Navy Commander . 

The new Navy Commander Vice Admiral Sinnayya is known as an officer who was responsible for drowning more than 40 LTTE Boats during the war against LTTE Rebels.He had kept  low profile since some time after the previous regime has avoid giving him a promotion for the  service he rendered to the nation.

The appointment  letter to the new Navy Commander was handed over at the Presidential Secretariat this morning by the President.He is due to assume duties of his post on 22nd of August.

Meanwhile Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne who was the Navy Commander before the new Commander has been appointed is due to be appointed as the new chief of Defense Staff.
