Kesbawa District Court has today(18) granted permission to the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) to dispose the Garbage collected in Colombo to Karadiyana Garbage Dump in Piliyandala area (Western Province) with effect from yesterday(17) to 28th of this month as per requested by the Municipal Council.The court has also directed the Solid Waste Management Authority to accept the Colombo Garbage until 28th of this month.
Accordingly the Court granted permission to the CMC to dispose 350 metric tonnes of Garbage Collected in Colombo daily to the Karadiyana Garbage Dump.Police protection is also given to the Karadiyana Garbage Dump it has been revealed.
Government is considering two other unmanned alternative locations except the Karadiyana Garbage Dump to dispose around 800 metric tonnes of Garbage collected in Colombo daily it has been reported.
