The Family Health Bureau has designed a mechanism to identify the new born infants with small heads which occurred as a result of "Zika Virus Infection" according to the Consultant Community Physician attached to the Bureau Dr.Kapila Jyaratne.
This mechanism will be implemented in both government and private hospitals and under this infants with small heads among the new born infants and dead infants will be identified and a system will be implemented to report such cases constantly Dr.Jayaratne has said.
All the precautionary measures will be taken if there's an unusual increase of infants with small heads in the country he has stressed.
Infants born to the mothers who are infected with Zika Virus Infection will be affected with Zika Virus according to Medical Specialists.
As Sri Lanka is having two mosquito varieties which spreading Zika Virus Infection, the country has also named by the World Health Organization as a country which is at a risk of spreading the infection.However still there are no reports on spreading the disease in Sri Lanka.
