The ongoing construction work of the world's tallest artificial Christmas Tree at Galle Face Green launched by Minister of Ports Arjuna Ranathunge has suspended after the heavy money spending project becomes under criticism from various sectors in the society most recently by the Colombo Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith.Around 50% work of the 325 feet high Artificial Christmas Tree which due to beet the previous tallest Christmas Tree in the world built in Mexico has already finished it has been reported.
Around Rs.1 million had already spent for the Christmas tree project and need around one million pinus fruit for the project according to reports.
The Colombo Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has requested the authorities yesterday (06)to donate the money due to spend to build the remain part of the Christmas Tree to poor as Sri Lanka do not want such luxurious projects.
