Ministry Of Transport has decided to increase the traffic violations fine to Rs.25,000 for six traffic violations with immediatte effect Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva has stated today (21).
Accordingly the fine of Rs.25,000 will be charged for (1) Speeding, (2)Drunken Driving, (3)Driving without a valid licence, (4)Driving without a vehicle Insurance, (5)Driving illegally at a railway crossing and (6)Overtaking from the left side.
The decision to increase the fine for these traffic violations had taken during a discussion held today (21)between Lanka Private Bus Owners Association leaders and Ministers Nimal Siripala De Silva and Ravi Karunanayake.
The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association which earlier threatened to strike demanding withdrawing the budget proposal on increasing minimum traffic violations fine to Rs.2500 has agreed to the following decision of the Ministry it has been announced.
