The Second Reading Of The Budget Passed In Parliament With Majority Of 107 Votes

The second reading of the Annual Budget -2017 has

been passed this evening with majority of 107 votes as 162 members out of the 225 member Parliament voted in favor while 55 members voted against it.Meanwhile  07 members including former President and Kurunagala District MP Mahinda Rajapakshe were absent during the vote.

The MP's belonging to governing United National Party (UNP),United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) ,Ceylon Workers Congress and MP of Ealam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP)had been voted in favor of the budget while UPFA MP's belonging to the Joint Opposition Group and Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna (JVP) had been voted against it.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake presented the Annual Budget Proposals  -2017 to the  parliament on 10th of November.

The debate on the second reading of the budget and committee stage  due to continue till 10th of December.
