Some of the Key proposals announced during the Budget Speech of Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake are-
*50% concession on interest rates of loan facilities to Paddy ,Vegetable and Fruit farmers
*2% Cess Tax imposed on imported Sugar and 5% on Ethanol .A Sugar Stabilization Fund to be set up
*Daily Allowance granted for differently a baled children will be increased by Rs.150 per day
*Rs.200,000 insurance scheme for School Children
*Rs.5000 million allocated to provide free Tabs for 175,000 Advanced Level school children and 25,000 teachers from next year
*Major International Companies which are willing to relocate the headquarters in Sri Lanka will be excluded from corporate tax.
*Five year multiple visas to be provided for International Students from next year to study in Sri Lankan Universities
* A loan scheme to be introduced up to Rs.800,000 for students who are not qualified for state universities to study at private institutes
