The proposed Central Expressway which will be
constructed from four stages is due to be completed by the end of 2019 according to Minister of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella.
Accordingly under the first stage 37.3 Kilo Meters from Kadawatha to Mirigama will be constructed by a Chinese Firm and second stage 39.3 kilo meters from Mirigama to Kurunagala will be constructed first time by the local contractors.
The third stage 34.1 Kilo Meters from pothuhara to galagedera to be constructed by a Japanese company and the fourth and last stage of the Expressway which is 53.8 Kilo Meters will be constructed by a chinese company.
There will be 14 interchanges in the Expressway and the Road Development Authority has already allocated a land for the project Minister Kiriella has stated.
