Major General Udaya Madawela has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the
Sri Lanka Army with effect from 01st of November according to the Ministry Of Defense.
Major General Madawela was security force commander of the Sri Lanka Army's Central and West divisions and former Military Spokesman.He is also the Military Advisor of the Sri Lanka Mission to United Nations in New York.
Meanwhile Major General Channa Gunathilake has been appointed as the new deputy Chief Of staff of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 01st of November the Ministry has stated.
