Wennappuwa Police have last night detained two Iranian Nationals who fled away after stealing a foreign currency notes worth Rs.591,750 from a foreign currency exchange center in Wennappuwa City(North Western Province).
The two suspects had stolen the foreign currency notes on 10th if August it has been revealed.
One thousand US Dollars,Eight Hundred Fifty Saudi Riyals and Three Thousand Drahms are among foreign currency they had stolen according to the Police.
After the robbery the Marawila District Court had issued a court order prevnt them from leaving Sri Lanka.
The two suspected Iranian Nationals were detained by the Wennappuwa Police while they were in the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka to extend their visas .
