During the Defence Ministry's extended period of general amnesty over 13,000 deserters of the armed forces have been legally discharged from service according to the military spokesman Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera.
By last friday (08) around 11,847 attached to the army,679 attached to the navy and 525 of the Air Force who have deserted forces have been legally discharged from the service after obtained clearence from their service officers the military spokesman has stated.
The general amnesty period will end on this wednesday and after that a legal action will be taken against those who fail to legally discharge from armed services during the period.
