The World Health Organization(WHO)has today(03) announced that Sri Lanka and Maldives have successfully eliminated lymphatic filariasis (Filaria) the disease that was crippling people for decades.Lymphatic Filariasis forcing those people have it to lead a life of stigma,discrimination and poverty WHO has stated.
"The achievement made by Sri Lanka and Maldives demonstrates the resolve of those countries and the region as a whole to eliminate all neglected tropical diseases ,which have no reason to continue and effect the lives of people" the Regional Director Of WHO's South East Asia Region Dr.Poonam Khretrapal has stressed.
