The Government has today (01) removed the restrictions imposed on issuing passports to Sri Lankan Citizens who are in abroad who were in different times compelled to leave the country due to political or conflict reasons.
Previous Government has issued instructions to Sri Lankan Embassies abroad on 2011 to avoid issuing passports to those who applied and gained refugee ot asylum status in another country unless they have proved their refugee or asylum status.
The Sri Lankan Government has today issued a circular by removing the restrictions imposed on those refugee or asylum seeking Sri Lankan Citizens by stating that the decision has taken to ensure the freedom of movement and travel of above mentioned Sri Lankan Citizens despite their political views.
