The Minister of Health ,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has decided to submit a Proposal to the Cabinet on creating a national policy to make compulsory that a nutritious meal including fruits and fruit juices should be served to the participants of workshops,seminars and press briefings organize by all Ministries and Government Institutions in future.
The proposal will be submitted to the Cabinet soon according to Health Minister.The aim of submitting this kind of proposal to the Cabinet is to reduce the number of persons infected with non communicable diseases in sri lanka according to the Ministry Of Health.
It has been reported that 68% out of the total number of patients admitted to government hospitals annually are suffering from non communicable diseases like diabetes and heart diseases.ealth
Health Ministry has already issued a circular to the institutes attached to Ministry Of Health regarding serving Nutritious Meal during the functions organize in the institutions.
