The Cabinet has approved the re implementation of "Gam Udawa" Housing Programme which aims to provide houses for all low income groups throughout the country.
The Programme which recognized by the United Nations was a concept of former Sri Lankan President late Ranasinghe Premasdasa and his son the Minister of Housing and Construction of the present Government.Minister Sajith Premadasa has submitted the cabinet paper to the Cabinet regarding re implementation of the Housing Programme it has been reported.
According to the Minister Sajith Premadasa under the "Gam Udawa" Housing programme Housing Projects will be implemented by covering all 25 districts of the country during next five years beginning from this year.
This year "Gam Udawa" Programme will be implemented in Kurunagala and Anuradhapura Districts the Minister has stated.The cultural functions scheduled to be conducted at Gam Udawa sites will be funded by private companies he has stressed.
