Around 1317 "Jersey" Type Pregnant Cows were imported to Sri Lanka from Australia Yesterday (11) to uplift the Fresh Milk Production in Sri Lanka.An Animal Transport Ship "Ocean Outback' which carried theses cows had arrived yesterday at Hambanthota Mahinda Rajapaksha International Harbour.These Imported Cows have been later transported to "Ridiyagama' Farm in Ambalanthota(In Southern Province) belonging to National Livestock Board .
These Cows are due to be distributed amongst Milk Farmers of six selected provinces in Sri Lanka in view of increasing Milk Production of the Country according to National Livestock Board.
