The Colombo High Court Judge Lalith Jayasuriya has today(13) sentenced a former Army Major who was found guilty of possession of Six Kilo Grammes Of Heroin a life imprisonment .By announcing the life imprisonment sentence for the former Army General the Colombo High Court Judge has stated that although the offense of processing a large haul of narcotics warranted the Death Sentence he has given life imprisonment sentence as the death sentence had been confined only to the statutory books.
