Deputy Leader of the main opposition United National Party (UNP) MP Karu Jayasuriya has stated today (05) that he decided to contest for leadership of the Party during forthcoming working meeting .He said through a Press Release issued today that he has decided to contest for the Party Leadership Due to the vast number of invitations received during past few weeks from Buddhist Clergy,Other Religious Leaders ,Branch Unions of the Party,Civil Organizations,Supporters and well wishers .Deputy Leader Jayasuriya has further said that he cannot refused the invitations received by vast number of people and he will contest for leadership just to unite the divided UNP and not going after the posts of the Party."Even we have discussed the lapses of the party with Party Leader and Opposition Leader Ranil Wikramasinha the out come was negative " he has stressed.
Meanwhile the Opposition Leader and UNP Leader Ranil Wickramasinha has said today during a press briefing held in Colombo that he has not informed on the decision of MP Jayasuriya .
