Health Officials To Relax The Punishment Of Poorly Performed Indian Drug Suppliers

Local Health Officials have decided to adapt a relax policy towards the Indian Drug Supplying Companies who were supplied sub standard drugs and delayed supplying drugs to the local government hospitals instead of black listing them as decided earlier.

It has been revealed that the Medical Supplies Division had already informed the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) to charge the surety fee deposited by these drug companies before supplying the requisite stock of medicine to the hospitals with immediate effect. This meant these Drug Supplying Companies who delayed supplying drugs and supplied sub standard drugs will given a green light to continue supplying drugs to Sri Lanka besides their poor record.

More than 10 Indian Drug Companies received this concession weeks after the Health Ministry has announced that these Companies will be black listed by canceling their registration here .Even the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Mr.Ashok K Kantha  too had requested the Sri Lankan Health Minister Maithrepala Sirisena last week to provide information on these Drug Suppliers which enable Indian Government to take legal action against them.
