Estate Workers Called Off Their Strike Following The Wage Increase

Sri Lankan Estate Workers who were in Strike demanding a Rs.500 Daily Payment for their work called of their Trade Union Action following the Promise made by their Employers to pay Rs.405 Daily Payment for them with immediate effect.Estate Workers Trade Union Action affects the Tea Industry heavily as Large Amount of Income lost due to it.

The talks held yesterday between the Trade Unions and the Ceylon Employers Federation regarding Estate Workers demand failed after Trade Unions turned down the Employers offer of paying Rs.375 per day to the Workers.However the Employers Federation agreed today to increase the Payment to Rs 405 per day.
