All Municipal Councils In The Country To Refrain From Collecting Undivided Garbage With Effect From 01st Of November

The Ministry Of Local Government and Provincial Councils has today(29) announced that all Municipal Councils throughout the Island had decided to  refrain from collecting residential garbage which is not divided("Segregated" like plastics,glass etc) with effect from 01st of November 2016.

All disposed waste in all residencies,shops,hotels,schools,hospitals and state institutions should be divided into three categories as biodegradable waste,non biodegradable waste and plastic/glass according to the Ministry.

An agreement regarding refraining collecting undivided disposed waste has been reached during the discussions held this morning between Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Faizar Musthapha,the secretary of the ministry,all municipal commissioners and officials it has been reported.

Minister Musthapha has stated during the discussion that steps will be taken to establish environmental police to take strict action against persons who are disposing waste on the roadside.

Nine Suspects Arrested Over The Murder Of Bambalapitiya Based Businessman Sulaiman Had Been Further Remanded

Image result for court orderThe Colombo Magistrate Court has today (29)further remanded the nine suspects arrested and remanded over the murder of Bambalapitiya(In Colombo) based Businessman Mohommad Shakeeb Sulaiman  until 13th of October .

The suspects were further remanded after being produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court this morning.

The Bambalapitiya based businessman Sulaiman was abducted by a group persons near his residence in Bambalapitiya on 21st of August and his body was later found near Mawanella area on 24 th of August.

Army Intelligence Officer Who Is In Remand In Connection With Lasantha Wikramathunge's Murder Has Been Further Remanded

Image result for court orderThe Army Intelligence Officer who was  arrested in connection with the assassination of    former Editor of "Sunday Leader" Newspaper Lasantha Wikramathunge has been further remanded until 13th of October by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court today(29).

The suspect has been further remanded after being produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court this morning.

The Army Intelligence Officer  had been arrested and remanded over the abduction,unlawful detention and questioning of  the driver of  assassinated Editor Lasantha Wikramathunge.

Air Port Customs Officers Had Arrested A Chinese Female While Attempting To Smuggle A Stock Of Gems

Image result for arrestedAir Port Customs Officers had yesterday(28) arrested a 30 year old Chinese female  at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Air Port while attempting to smuggle a stock of Gems worth more than Rs.1.1 million out of the country illegally it has been reported.

The suspected female  had arrived in the Katunayake Air Port yesterday nigh to board a flight to Hong Kong according to the Customs Officers.

Customs Officers had also taken into custody few gem detecting equipment while in possession of the suspected female.

Prime Minister To Leave New Zealand Today (29) For An Official Visit

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinhe is due to leave  New Zealand today (29) for a three day official state visit .

During the state visit to New Zealand  the first by a Sri Lankan head of state ,Prime Minister Wikramasinhe will hold bi lateral talks with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.He is also due to attend official,business and community meetings organized in capital Wellington ,Auckland and Waikato cities.

Prime Minister will be acompanied by nine member delegation including  his wife Professor Maithree Wikramasinhe ,four ministers and state ministers and four of his official staff members for the tour it has been reported.
