First Local Climate Change Summit To Be Held In Colombo On 07th And 08th Of September

Image result for climate changeThe first climate change summit to be held in Sri Lanka  to ascertain the progress made when implementing the "Paris Climate Change Pact" will be held on 07th and 08th of September at Bandaranaike Menorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.

Around 200 local and foreign Environmentalists,State Officials and Representatives of  Civil Organizations are due to participate this Summit which is jointly  organized  by the,Environment Justice Center,The Climate Change Office Of the Ministry Of Environment ,United Nations  Development Programne and the Gene Technology Institute.

The German Embassy in Colombo sponsored this Summit.

At the end of the Summit all State Institutions are due to declare a Joint Statement  regarding the steps they are due to be taken to face  Climate Change it has been reported.

Nearly Fifty Acres Of Land Had Been Destroyed At Wellawaya Due To A Fire

Image result for fireNearly  fifty acres of land belonging to number 03 and 04 colonies at Palwatte in Wellawaya area had been destroyed due to a fire according to Wellawaya Police.

The Disaster Management Unit based in Monaragala District and the fire brigade in Palwatte are being engaged in dousing the fire this evening it has been reported.

There are no casualties and property damage as a consequence of the fire Police have stated.

Wellawaya Police are conducting an investigations on the incident.

Navy Have Arrested Six Persons Along With A Stock Of Heroin At Pallimunai Area

Image result for mannarSri Lankan Navy Personal have today(04) arrested five Sri Lankans and an Indian National while transporting 2.24 Kilo Grammes of Heroin at Pallimunai (Northern Province)Area.

The arrested suspects along with the stock of Heroin had been handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau Officials for further investigations.

Sri Lanka's Ambassador To Malaysia Has Been Attacked

Image result for ibrahim ansarSri Lanka's Ambassador to Malaysia Ibrahim Sahib Ansar has been attacked by an unidentified persons this evening  while on his way back from the Kualalampur Air Port it has been reported.

The Injured Sri Lankan Ambassador has been admitted to the police Hospital attached to the Kuala Lampur Air Port according to sources.He was attacked while on his way after accompanying the visiting Sri Lankan Joint Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardena to the Air Port .

According to the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry an inquiry on the attack has already been launched by the authorities
