No Power Cuts Until Further Notice-Public Utilities Commission

 The National  Public Utilities Commission has announced today (31) that there will be no more power cuts in the country unril further notice .


The Public Utilities Commission which met this evening had decided not to impose any power cut in the island according to the chairman of the Commission Janaka Raynayake

Earlier Ceylon Electricity Board  had  decided to impose power cuts after today due to the ongoing fuel shortage.




21 Corona Deaths Were Reported Today(31)

 A total number of 21 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (31)Increasing the total number of Corona  deaths reported So far to 15,441 according to Director General Of Health Services (DGHS).


Accordingly 11 males and 10 Females had died due to Corona infection the DGHS has stated.Out of the deceased 14 were over 60 years of age and 05 were belonged to 30-60 year age group.Two of the deceased were under 30 years of age it has been revealed. 


Another 1082 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today(31)

 Another 1082 Corona  Positives had been reported in the country today (31),Increasing the total number of Corona Positives repprted so far to 611,185 according to Epidemiology Unit .


Att the moment 17,312 Corona Positives are being treated at Hospitals,Quarantine Centers and under home care system the unit has stated .

Another 82 Omicron Positives Had Been Identified

Another 82 omicron positive  had been identified from  Sri lanka through the 88 samples  tested by  using Genome Sequencing technique  at  University of Jayawardhanapura according to the director of the department of mollecular biology of the university  Dr.Chandima Jeewandara .


According to Dr jeewandara so far 362 Omicron positives had been identified from Sri Lanka .Majority of new Omicron cases had been identified  from Colombo municipal council area and mathugama and kesbewa areas .06 Delta cases had been also identified during the geneome sequencing tests.
