Around 146 Persons Have Died And Over 400,000 Displaced And Affected Due To The Adverse Weather-Updated

Around 146 persons have died and more than 400,000 persons have been displaced and affected due to the adverse weather affected 14 districts of the country up to now according to the Disaster Management Center.

Image result for floods in neluwaAlthough the Center has stated that around 112 went missing  due to the situation according to the reports received from provinces the number may have be higher than this .

Army,Navy and Air force teams are continuing their rescue missions to save those who are stranded in many flood and landslide affected areas.

Meanwhile floods in most of the cities in Southern Province reported as still remains and the city Of Neluwa and surrounding villages are still submerged with  several feats of water it has been reported.

Ratnapura City including Kiriella and paddy fields and several houses near Sinharaja Forest and many areas in Hambanthota including Kapuhenwala in Tangalle are still under water.Several areas in Galle including Udugama and Millaniya  are being submerged and transport activities have been disrupted due to this ,Boats are being used to transport people in these areas at present.

The water levels in Nilwala ,Kalu and Ging are increasing rapidly and the water level of Kukule ganga also increased.Due to the overflowing of Nilwala river several areas in Matara district have submerged and several areas in the District currently under threat of floods according to the authorities.

In western province several areas in Kalutara District including Bulathsinghale ,Naragala,Thebuwana and Nagoda  still under water it has been reported .Due to the  overflowing of Kelani river Kaelanimulla , Kaduwela areas and some roads in Kolonnawa have been submerged.

Prime Minister Has Instructed Ministers And MP's To Go For Their Electorates And Provide Relief To Displaced People

Image result for prime minister wikramasinghePrime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe has instructed the Ministers and MP's to go for their electorates to provide relief to those  affected  due to adverse weather, without staying in Colombo.

Prime Minister has instructed on this during a meeting held at Temple Trees on Saturday (27) morning to discuss on  the relief supplies to the people in flood/landslide affected areas.

Authorities Requested The Residents Lives Near Nilwala River Banks To Vacate Their Premises

Authorities have requested those living close to the
Nilwala river banks few hours ago to vacate their premises with immediate effect and move to safe areas as there is a possibility of overflowing the Nilwala River by breaking it's banks and the bunt constructed to prevent floods.

The request has been made from the residents of Hiththatiya,Thudawa,Malimbada,Godagama,Maduruduwa,Parahathgoda,Kadduwa and Siripanagoda areas.

Due to the rapid  overflowing of Nilwala River several areas and roads in Matara already submerged and some areas water level arisen to eight feets it has been reported.

Now the water overflowing from Nilwala River nearing the Matara town residents have said.

An Indian Ship Carrying Essential Commodities For Displaced Persons Arrived In Colombo Harbor

Image result for ins krich arrived colomboAn Indian ship "INS Krich "carrying essential commodities,medical aid ,material,personal , equipment and rescue divers for the benefit of   Sri Lankan persons affected by the adverse weather has  arrived in Colombo Harbor this morning(27). 

Indian government has sent this Ship as per a request made by Sri Lankan Government .

Another ship carrying essential commodities and medical aid is due to arrive Colombo tomorrow(28).

Meanwhile Indian Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi has expressed his sympathies to the families of Sri Lankan flood and landslide victims through a Twitter message.

Landslide Warnings Issued To Eight Districts

If the rain continues further there's a risk of landslides in eight  districts according to the National Building Research Organization .

Accordingly the landslide warnings had been issued to Ratnapura Galle, Matara ,Kegalle ,Hambanthota,Kandy ,Nuwara Elliya and Kalutara Districts.

People in these Districts are advised to be in vigilant regarding landslide signs such as falling of trees,posts and cracking of building and houses.
