Five More Opposition MP's Resigned From COPE

 Five more Parliamentarians were resigned from the Parliament's Committee on Public Entetprises (COPE)  yesterday (19) following the  resignation of former Finance Minister and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB)MP Eran Wikramaratne.

Accordingly


members of the COPE  Dayasiri Jayasekare,Charitha Herath ,Shannaiyan Rasamanikam,Hesha Withanage and S.M Marikkar were resigned from the COPE yesterday(19).The opposition members blames  the integrity of the COPE established on 07th of March  under the Chairmanship of Ruling Sri Lanka Progressive Party(SLPP) MP Rohitha Abeygunawardane who himself accused misppropriation of public funds under the previous government

Twenty Nine Students At Kotalawala Defense Academy Hospitalized

 Twenty Nine students attached to the Kotalawala Defense Academy at  Nugegalayaya in  ,Sevenagala Police division had been hospitalized due to a food poisioning  according to the Police.



There were 26 male students and 03 female students among those,admitted to the Suriyawewa Provincial Hospital for treatment it has been reported.The condition of the students is stable according to reports.

Four Police Officers Were Injured Due To An Assault In Thanamalwila Assault

 A Drunken driver and another group had assaulted four officers of the Thanamalwila  Police  who were on  traffic duty yesterday(18).The injured Police officers were admitted to the Thanamalwila Hospital for treatment.


As a result Thanamalwila Police have arrested three persons in connection with the assault and they were due to be produced before the  Wellawaya Magistrate Court yesterday 

SJB MP Eran Wikramaratne Resigned From COPE

 The Samagijanabalawegaya  Party (SJB)MP Eran Wikramaratne has resigned from the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises(COPE) with effect from.yesterday (18).


Giving reasons behind his resignation from the COPE position MP Wikramaratne has stated by appointing a ruling party member as  the Chairman of the COPE the committe fails to meet its objectives of keeping a check on.the executive arm of the Government.
