Health Sector Strike Scheduled For Today (07) Called Off

The Islandwide strike action called today(07) by the Health Services Trade Union Alliance(HSTUA) compromising of 72 trade unions    had  been called off following the  discussions held with finance Minstry officials .


During the discussions held with Finance Ministry officials they had given a favourable response  regarding  offering Rs.35,000 Dat allowance given to medical officers to other health workers as well according to the Ministry.





 

Former Health Minister Rambukwella Resigned From His Ministerial Portfolio

 The Minister of Enviornment Keheliya Rambukwella   who was remanded recently over the purchasing of low quality Human immunoglobulin Injection vials for Hospitals   has resigned from his Ministerial Post yesterday(06).


Minister Rambukwella who was former Health Minister as well sent his resignation letter to the President Ranil Wikramasinghe and the president  had accepted the letter it has been reported.

The Former Minister Rambukwella was arrested by Criminal Investigatons Department (CID) recently over the purchasing of  low quality Human immunoglobulin injection vials for government hospitals under the Indian credit line  and later remanded until 15th of February by the court.He had earlier won the no confidence motion submitted against him to the Parliament by main opposition .Meanwhile the authorities had given former Minister Rambukwella a chance to attend the Parliamentary session  held today(07) however he has declined that offer.

Thirty Four Inmates In Kandakadu Center Arrested Over A Brawll

 Thirty four inmates attached to the Kandakadu Rehabilotation Center who were involved in brawl activities at the Center for a long time   had been taken into custody according to the Rehabiitation Commissioner General Retired Major Darshana Hettiarachchi.


Meanwhile due to a brawl occurred among two groups of inmates at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center yesterday(04) 10 Persons including an Army soldier had been injured and admitted to the Welikanda Base Hospital.Police have  arrested 14 inmates over the incident.

Navy Arrested 23 Indian Fishermen In Northern Seas

 Sri Lanka Navy had arrested 23 Indian Fishermen along with two trawlers they were in poaching off the Delft Island in Northetn Sri Lanka last Saturday(03).Navy had arrested them during their regular petrol conducted in Northern seas .


The arrested Indian fishermen and their trawlers were brought to the Kankasanthurai Harbor and latet they were handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for a legal action.

Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella Has Been Remanded

 The Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella who was,arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)  has been remanded untill 15th of February by the Maligakande Magistrate Court yesterday (15) after being produced  before the court .


Earlier he was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after being questioned nearly 11 hours over the purchasing of sub standerd Human Immunoglobulin Injection vials to hospitals.

However soon after receiving the remand order from the court the former Health Minister has been admitted to the Prison Hospital in Welikada over a complaint made by him.
