Austrian National Was Killed Due To Van-Lorry Collision

 A 37 year old Austrian National was killed and his mother was critically injured and hospitalized after the luxury Van they were travelling in colliding with a Lorry  parked on the road  at Kelawarapitiya area in Kadawatha(Colombo) yesterday(26).

The Injured mother of the deceased had been admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital for treatment.The deceased and his mother faced this incident whilst on their way to the Katunayake International Airport from the tourist hotel in Hikkaduwa where they have stayed in it has been reported.

Police had arrested the driver of the Van over the incident.An investigation in being conducted by the Athurugiriya Highway Subcoordination Center in this regsrd.

President Prorogued The Parliament

 President Ranil Wikramasinghe has prorogued the Parliament with effect from midnight tonight(26) until 08th of February according to the Government.

The Gazette Notification 

regarding this decision was sent to the Government Printer as per a decision taken by the President according to the President's Secretary Saman Ekanayake .The new session of the Parliament is scheduled to  begin at 10 a.m on 08th of February 2024.

Litro Gas To Be Privatized?

Government is planning to sell the profit making Litro Gas Company to the Private Sector the Chairman of the Company Muditha Pieris has stated.Government has already sought the opinion of the private sector in this regard he had stated.

The state owned Litro Gas Company has earned a profit worth around Rs.700 million during  last year the Chairman had stressed.

A Group Of Inmates Escaped From Kandakadu Center -17 Were Arrested

 A group of inmates at  Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center at Welikande area in Polonnaruwa District had escaped from the Center last night (24).and the  Police have arrested  17 of them near the Sungavila bridge it has been reported.

 escaped from the Kandakadu Center during a clash occurred between two groups of inmates attached to the Kandakadu Vocational Training Institute and Nawasenapura    Vocational Training Institute  .

Eight Cattle And Female Were Killed Due To A Bus Accident

Eight  Cattle and a female passanger  were killed and eight were seriously injured  when a Sri Lanka Transport Board(SLTB) passanger    Bus collided with a Passanger van  after knocking down a herd of Cattle lying down on the road  at Umayalpuram in Kilinochchi District on the Kandy -Jaffna A09 highway yesterday morning(24).

The Bus driver lost the control of the high speed bus and  as a result the bus   knocked down  a herd of Cattle lying  on the road and Then collided with a van on its,way from  Katunayake International Airport  .The injured were adnitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Kilinochchi General Hospital.

Kilinochchi Police had arrested the Bus driver regarding the incident and investigating  further on the incident.
