Two Persons Arrested In Possession Of A Fake Gemstone

 Police had arrested two persons in possession of a Fake Gemstone in Mawathagama area ((Kirunagala District ) yesterday (12) diring the islandwide anti narcotic operation "Yukthiya"currenly underway.


According to the Police thetwo suspects were arrested in possession of "Maranchi" synthetic  gemstone commonly known as fake gem.The two suapects had attempted to offer a bribe of  Rs.150,000 to the Police seeking of  their release Police had stated.


Agriculture Science Paper Of GCE A/L Exam Cancelled

The Agriculture Science question paper of the 2023 G.C.E Advanced Level examination currently underway has been cancelled by the authorities due to reports that several questions of the paper had been leaked prior to the exam.




The Agriculture science paper scheduled for 10th of January will be rescheduled for another  date amd the new date will be notified in due course it has been stated


 

60 Inmates At Kandakadu Center Escaped

 As a result  of a brawl occurred at Kandakadu  Treatment and Rehabilitation Center today(12)  around 60 inmates in the Center  have escaped  according to reports .


However Police have managed to arrest 25 out of the 60 escaped inmates during the Special search operation underway to arrest them.  During the arrest 19 inmates were injured and some of them were admitted to Welikanda Hospital A fewwith serious injuries had been  transferred to Polonnaruwa Hospital for further treatment.  Floods at Somwathiya Temple have hindered the search operation  it has been reported

Princess Anne Arrived In Sri Lanka For An Official Visit

Princess Anne who is the eldest Sister of King Charles of England arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (10) for a three day official visit.


Princess Amne who is being accompanied by her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawarance had met President Ranil wikramasinghe last night and sheduled to visit the Dalada Maligawa (The temple of tooth relic )in Kandy today(11) to receive blessings. 

 She is also due to visit the Jaffna public library and demining and resettlement site in Muhamalai it has been revealed 

A Person Was Killed Due To A Gun Shooting In Nawagamuwa

 A Person was killed due to a gun shooting incident occurred at a swamp nearby his house at Nawagamuwa area (Western province)  last night(10)according to the Police.The critically injured person succumbed to his injuries aftet admission to Colombo National Hospital it has been reported.

A Security personal of the house had been admitted to the Athurugiriya Hospital with injuries according to reports .


The shooting was carried out by two unidentified persons arrived by a Motorcycle it has been revealed The Police have launched a search operation to arrest the gunmen who  fled away from the scene  after the incident.

Maligakanda Magistrate Dismissed A Request Of Former Health Minister

 The Maligakanda Magistrate Court had dismissed a request of the former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to intetvene in the ongoing  court case related to the controversial Human Immunoglobulin injection vial deal as an aggrieved party or an unsatisfied party .


Announcing her decision  the Magistrate of the  Maligakanda Magistrate Court Lochani Abeywikrama has stated that the Court  and the Attorney General Stands by the People.


A Protest Campaign demanded The Arrest Of Former Health Minister

A protest campaign was held in front of the Mimistry of Health last morning (09) with participatiion of  general public and activists demanding the immediatte arrest of Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella .


The protesters demanding the authorities to arrest the Former Health Minister Rambukwella over his involvement in the importing of substandard Human Immunoglobulin injection vials.The former Health Secretary Janaka sri Chandragupta and five others are  being in jail over their involvement in the scandal .
