A Research Scientist Was Killed Due To A Motor Car Accident

 A 37 year old Research scientist attached to Nano Technical Company has died after the Motor car driven by him had collided with a Road barrier at Kumbuka,area in Gonapola (Western Province) it has been reported.


The deceased was on his way home at the time of the incident according to the  Police.Although the Air baloons of his Motor car had been operated  after the accident his neck had been  cut as a result of the plastic pieces released from the baloons .

Court Order Against IUSF Convener To Prevent Holding Protests

 The Nugegoda Magistrate Court has today (04)issued a Court order against the Convener of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige and the Convener of the Inter University Bhikku Federation Galwewa Siridhamma Thero preventing them form holding protests or marches that can disturb the general public during today which is the National Independence Day of the country



 The Court has issued this order accordance to the request made by Mirihana Police to the Nugegoda Magistrate .

Electricity Board Assured Supreme Court There Wil Be No Power Cuts Until Taking UP Of The Contempt Of Court Petition Against Them

 Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has assured  the Supreme Court yesterday (02) that there will be no scheduled power cuts until the contempt of  court petition  filed by Human Rights commission before the court against violating the promise given by the Electricity Board regarding  the non implementation of power cuts until the conclusion of the ongoing GCE Advanced Level examination .Nighttime power cuts back - June 2nd & 3rd - NewsWire

 The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has made the assurance to the court through it's lawyer President's counsel Uditha  Egalahewa and stated that during the said period no power cuts will be implemented in the island .

The contempt of court petition filed by the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission against Electricity Board has been taken up for consideration at 11.30 a.m today (03).
