A Cyclist Was Killed Due To Lorry-Van Collision

 A cyclist was killed and three others were injured and hospitalized due to the Lirry -Van collision occurred at  Hitriwala fifth post area on Pasyala-Giriulla Road(North Western Province) last Evening (05).

Accordingly a 59 year old Cyclist was killed and the Both drivers of the Lorry and the Van as well as another person traveled in the Lorry had been injured and hospitalized due to the accident ,The incident has  occurred when the Lorry driver had applied breaks to save the cyclist and at the same time a Van arrived had  hit on the rear side of the lorry .As the result of the collision the lorry had toppled over on the road and the Cyclist had slipped away and gone  under the Lorry and died .the Police have stated.

Transport Ministry To Decide Bus Fare Reduction Today (04)

 Ministry of Transport is to decide whether the  Bus fares should be reduced due to the recent reduction of  the Price of Diesel .

A special meeting to decide on  the reductionn

of Bus fares is scheduled to be held at the Transport Ministry today under the patronage of Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardane.

Price of Diesel had been reduced by Rs.25 in two occassions recently ,But the Bus fares remain unchanged.

A Naval Rate In Mannar Killed By Wild Elephant Attack

 A Naval rate attached to the Mullikulam Naval Base at Seelawathura ,Mannar(Northern Province) was killed yesterday (03)due to a Wild Elephant attack.

The deceased had been identified as a 41 year old  resident in Polpithigama area in Maeliya(North western province).

Government Increased The Taxes Imposed On Liquor

 Government had increased the Taxes imposed on Local liquor (Arrack)and Beer with effect from midnight last night(03).

Accordingly the tax imposed on Local Arrack had been increased by 20 percent .

Prices Of Auto Diesel And Kerosene Oil Reduced

 Price Of Auto Diesel and Kerosene oil had been reduced by Rs.15 and Rs.10 per a Liter with effect from midnight today (02) according to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO).

Accordingly the new price of a liter of Auto

Diesel will be Rs.405 and a Liter of Kerosene Oil is Rs.355 .Prices of Other types of Petrol and Diesel will remain unchanged the CEYPETCO has announced.

Meanwhile Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) too had  reduced the prices of Auto Diesel and Kerosene Oil by Rs.15 and Rs.10 resepectively
