Colombo Additional Magistrate Has Remanded IUSF Convener Until Mid January

Colombo Additional Magistrate has yesterday (13) ordered to remand the imprisoned convener of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige until 17th of January over organizing a protest violating the law.Colombo Additional Magistrate Thranga Mahawatte has remanded the Imprisoned convener of the IUSF Mudalige who was arrested under the Terrorism Prevention Act until 17th of January . Case filed against the detention of Wasantha Mudalige fixed for November 10 by the Supreme Court. - Counterpoint

Additional Magistrate has also ordered the Terrorism Investigations Division (TID) to conclude the ongoing investigations against Wasantha Mudalige and hand over the investigation report to the Court. .

Academic Staff Of The Peradeniya Arts Faculty Launched A Strike

The Academic staff attached to the Arts faculty of the University of Peradeniya had launched a strike action opposing the assault made against the former Vice chancellor of the Peradeniya University Senior Professor Athula senaratne.

The Academic staff of the Arts faculty had informed on this to the Peradeniya University authorities .

A five member committee is currently investigating on the assault authorities have further stated.

Imprting Rice Has Been Banned

The Import and Export Control Office has issued an Extraordinary Gazette notification banning the importation of all Rice varieties to the country except Basmathi Rice variety with effect from 09th of December.
