Religious Places To Kept In Darkness Tomorrow Eve (09) As A Protest To The Increased Electricity Terrifs

Not only the general public the religious places too are suffering due to the increased electricity tariffs  Rev.father Cyril Gamini has stated during a press briefing held in Colombo today .

A New Mechanism To Decrease The Increased Electiricity Tarrifs Of Religious Places

 A new mechanism has been prepared to reduce the increased Electricity tariffs of Religious places by 50 percent according to the Public Utilities Commission . What are the Uses of Electricity in Modern Life?

This new Mechanism will be implemented  by removing the religious places from Religious places category and re-negated   them to the  common services category, the President of the utilities  commission Janaka Ratnayake  has stated .

Accordingly the  Electricity tariffs increased in last August which caused the increasing of  Electricity bills in religious places by 550 percent will be reduced by 50 percent he has stressed.The Electricity will be supplied to the religious places by Rs.32 per a unit from Rs.75 per unit under the new mechanism  he has further said .,

Two Major School Exams Had Been Postponed

 The Department of Examinations has decided to postpone the Grade five Scholarship Examination and the G.C.E Advanced level examination scheduled to be held in this December .


Accordingly the Grade five Scholarship Examination scheduled to be held on 04th of December has  been postponed until 18th of December and the G.C.E Advanced Level Examination has been postponed until 23rd of January next year . 

Sapugaskande Oil Refinery Shut Down Again

 The Sapugaskande Oil Refinery  has been closed down again from today (07) due to the non availability of foreign reserves to pay for a Crude oil ship the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare.has stated in Parliament .Sri Lanka renews effort to expand Sapugaskanda refinery | Oil & Gas Journal

However there's no shortage of Oil refined products in the country as the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) has an adequate stocks of oil .

According to the  Energy Minister the  shortage of Forex for payment of   two Crude oil Cargos already used at the refinery has led to the decision to close down the refinery. 

He added that the ship carrying 100,000 Metric tones of  Crude Oil Cargo that has been in Sri Lankan waters for the last 10 days will be unloaded as soon as an adequate Forex is available to the Ceypetco

Daily Power Cuts To Be Implemented For Another Three Dats

 The Public Utilities Commission has given approval to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to impose two hours and twenty minutes long daily Power cut for another three  days(08-10) the Commission has stated Villages plunge into darkness as power use zooms in state.

Accordingly there will be one hour long power cut to be implemented during the day time and One hour and twenty minutes long power cut due to be implemented during night period in twenty zones of the country for the next three days .
