The Sapugaskande Oil Refinery has been closed down again from today (07) due to the non availability of foreign reserves to pay for a Crude oil ship the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare.has stated in Parliament .
However there's no shortage of Oil refined products in the country as the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) has an adequate stocks of oil .
According to the Energy Minister the shortage of Forex for payment of two Crude oil Cargos already used at the refinery has led to the decision to close down the refinery.
He added that the ship carrying 100,000 Metric tones of Crude Oil Cargo that has been in Sri Lankan waters for the last 10 days will be unloaded as soon as an adequate Forex is available to the Ceypetco
