Flood Threat Occurred In Some Areas Due To Heavy Showers

As heavy rains are being expected in some areas near a six main rivers within next two days .There will be a flood threat in those areas according to the Department of Irrigation .

The Department had today (30) issued a pre flood warning to the residents who are living in low lying areas near Kalu, Gin ,Kelaniya ,Nilwala .Mahawali and Attanagalu rivers .Residents in those areas should be vigilant in next tow days regarding a possible flood threat the Department has warned .

Riot Police Dispersed A Protest March In Colombo -25 Protesters Were Arrested

Riot police had arrested 25 protesters after being dispersed a Protest march conducted by the Inter University Students Federation along with other public groups in Colombo this evening (30).

The Protest march was held opposing the Implementation of Terrorism prevention Act and demanding the release of those protesters arrested under the Act.

Hundreds of Protesters were attended the protest march commenced from the Elphinstone Theater in Colombo -10 this evening and near the Technical junction and in front of the Health Ministry Riot police had used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protest march .

The protesters had re grouped and begun the march after being tear gassed near the Technical collage junction .But were dispersed near the Health Ministry by the riot police again .Police officers had seen them running after the protesters to arrest them.

Ceypetco Said Enough Stocks Of Petrol And Diesel Are Available

Although there are long queues in front of the Fuel stations Island wide to purchase fuel these days ,The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) has today (28) announced it has sufficient stocks of Petrol .Diesel and Kerosene Oil for distribution to fuel stations .

Therefore Ceypetco has requested the public not to panic over the fuel shortage rumors' spreading in social media networks these days .However Private Oil Bowsers Association had announced there's a severe shortage of fuel in the country and the Ceypetco had failed supply the required stocks of Petrol and Diesel for many Fuel stations in the country .
