Police Arrested A Person With A Tear Gas Cannister

 Welikada Police had arrested a person with a Tear Gas cannister in his possession at Maligawa road in Welikada area(Colombo District ) last evening (10),


Police believes the Tear Gas cannister taken in custody in possession of the suspect might be a Cannister disappeared from a Police trishaw during a protest held at Polduwa Junction on 13th of July .

The suspect who is  a 40 year old resident of Battaramulla area is due to be Produced before Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court  

Controversial Chinese Ship Is Sailing Away From Hambanthota Harbor

 The Controversial Chinese ship "Yuan Wang 5 " which is sailing towards  Hambanthota Port (Southern province) is currently 600 nautical miles away from the Port it has been revealed .


According to the Harbor Master at Hambanthjota Port the Vessel cannot enter the Port without his permission .Foreign Ministry had already requested China to delay the arrival of this Chinese Ballistic Missiles and Satellite tracking ship to Hambanthota Port .

India is opposing the arrival of this Chinese vessel to Hambanthota Port  citing it is a threat to t he security in the region .   

Sri Lanka Lost A Golden Opportunity To Form An Interim All Party Government - Leader Of Jathika Janabalawegaya Party

 Sri Lanka had lost a golden opportunity to form an all party government with the agreement and acceptance  of all  factions, the leader of the Jathika Janabalawegaya Party Anura Kumara Disanayake has stated .


The Jathika Janabalawegaya Party Leader Disanayake has stated through a letter sent to the President Ranil Wikramasinghe that the if there's an honest approach to form an Interim All party government to provide relief for the general public and to find short term resolutions to the current Economic ,Political and   Social crisis faced by the country that will be the time when former Executive President Gotabhya Rajapakshe had fled away from the country and resigned from his post .

Electricity Bills To Be Increased By 75 Percent From Tomorrow (10)

 The Public Utilities Commission had  today (09) given the approval to Ceylon Electricity Board to increase the Electricity bills by 75 percent for all the categories . with effect from tomorrow (10).


According to the president of Public Utilities Commission Janaka Ratnayake undrer this increase electricity bills of those using 0-30 units will be increased by 264 percent ,Consumers with 31-60 units will be increased by 211 percent and consumers with 61-90 units will be increased by 125 percent ,Those Electricity consumers with the usage of 91-120 units will be increased by  89  percent .Also Consumers with  th121-180 units will be increased by 79 percent PUSL Chairman has stated .     

This is the first time that the Electricity  bills are being increased since 2013 the PUSL President has further said ,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

General Public And Trade Union Leaders Held Protest March Against Suppression

 National Trade Union Coordination Center had organized a protest march from Vihara Maha Devi park in Colombo to Independence Square ,Colombo-07 this evening (09) against Government's suppression against the protestors ,demanding relief for public amidst economic crisis and dissolving the Parliament .


General Public as well as trade union leaders .representatives of Political parties and Religious leaders had participated this protest march and they have issued a "Citizens Order " against suppression at Independence square ,

National Tarde Union Coordination Center had declared today as a  day of Protests in the country .

Trade Unions And Political Parties Declared Today (09) As A Day Of Protest In The Country

Trade Unions and Political Parties had named today (09) as an Island wide Protest day and due to conduct a series of Protests and rally's around the country  against the State of Emergency declared by the Government and arresting protesters of Galle face protest .




These protests and rallies are scheduled to be held in major cities including Colombo and the main protest rally is due to be held at Vihara maha devi park in Colombo today .

Colombo Chief Magistrate Court had yesterday (08) refused to issue an order to ban a protest scheduled to be held at Viharamaha devi park in Colombo as per the  requested by Cinamon Gardens Police .
