Government To Restrict Fuel Importation In Next 12 Months

 Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekare had today (25) stated that government will restrict the importation of fuel for next 12 months due to the foreign currency problem faced by the country at present


.

The QR Code system has been introduced due to the Government's inability to meet the daily requirement of fuel  in the country. Even if there are enough stocks of fuel available  it is not practical to supply fuel to every fuel station in the country he had further said.

Colombo Magistrate Court Extended The Foreign Travel Ban Imposed On Former Central Bank Governor

 Colombo Magistrate Court had today (25) extended the foreign travel ban imposed on former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivaad Cabral who is accused as one of the officials responsible for the current economic crisis in Sri Lanka ,until 26th of October this year .


The Colombo additional Magistrate Harshana Kakunawala has extended the foreign travel ban imposed on former Central Bank governor after taken into consideration  a private complaint made against him by the former Governor of Southern Province Ranjith Keerthi Thennakoon,The private complaint filed by the former governor of Southern Province is scheduled to be taken in to consideration on 26th of October ,

Through the private complaint filed on court by the former governor of Southern province he had submitted several charges against the former Central Bank governor Cabral including his decision to pay US Dollars 6.5 million belonging to the Central Bank to an American national without the Cabinet approval between 2006 to  2015 to promote Sri Lanka's image .

Another Ship Carrying 3750 Metric Tons Of Gas Has Arrived

 Another ship carrying 3750 Metric tons of Gas had arrived at Colombo harbor this evening (24) according to Litro Gas Company .





Yesterday (23) another ship carrying 3740 Metric tons of Gas had arrived at harbor and unloading of Gas from that ship is currently underway the Company has stated .The unloaded stocks of Gas will be distributed from tomorrow (25) island wide prioritizing the  Colombo district it has been announced.

Work From Home Facility For State Employees Extended For Another Month

 Government has extended the work from home concept introduced to Government employees since 28th of June  for another month period due to the current fuel crisis .Accordingly only a limited number of employees should be called  to work   and other should work from home the Ministry of Public Administration had announced through a circular issued today (24).



However this circular will not affect when calling employees to work to maintain public services which cannot  be functioned through online the Ministry has stated .

Parliament To hold a debate on the Military attack on Protesters

The government has decided to hold a debate on attacking the protesters of "Gota go home " village in Galle face ,Colombo this Wednesday (27) on a request made by the opposition.



The chief opposition whip Laxman Kiiriella of the main opposition "Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) Party had earlier requested the government to convene the Parliament tomorrow (25) to hold a debate on the attack of "Gota go home " village.

However, due to the problems that arise on calling all the MP''s to Colombo tomorrow, the Government has decided to hold the debate on this Wednesday when the Parliament meets to approve the Gazette notification issued by President Ranil Wikramasinghe on  the state of emergency.

  The military attack carried out against   the peaceful protesters at "Gota go home "village last Friday was an illegal and anti-democratic act, the Chief Opposition whip has stated.
