Police Arrested Three Persons Over Setting Dire GTi

 Police have today (10)arrested three persons over setting fire to the private residence of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramaisnghe at Cambridge Place in Colombo -07 the Police Department had announced ,


Accordingly a 19 year old residing in Mount Lavinia ,and two  persons of the ages 24 and 28 years residing in Kadawatha and Galle respectively had been arrested over the incident and they were later remanded until 20th of July after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate. More arrests regarding the incident will follow  Police Department had announced .

Meanwhile investigations on this incident had been handed over to Criminal Investigations  Department(CID ) Police have stated ,

A Group Of Persons Set Fire To Prime Minister's House

 A group of persons had set fire to the private residence of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe this evening (09) it has been reported .


According to the Prime Minister's Media Division A group of Protesters who had protested in front of the house had set the fire .This incident occurred after Security personal had attacked few electronic media personal who were covering today' s protest .

President Gotabya Rajapakshe To Resign

 President Gotabhaya Rajapaskhe had informed the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane through a letter that he will be resigned from his post on 13th of July .


President had sent this letter to the speaker as a reply to the letter sent by speaker to him  regarding the decisions taken at the Party leaders conference .Party leaders met today had requested Both Prime Minister Ranil Wikramaisnghe and President Gotabhaya  Rajapakshe  to resign from their posts ,

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe Has Agreed To Resign From His Post

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe had informed the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeygunawardena that he is willing to resign from his post  after the Party leaders conference held this evening (09) at the request made by premier .


The Party  leaders  who had attended the conference had requested Prime Minister and president Gotabhaya Rajapakshe  to resign from their posts under current circumstances  .Meanwhile Prime Minister Wikramaisnghe had stated that when the present government has resigned a new government should be appointed right away  to carry out many functions  of the government.

Soon after the Protesters captured the President's House Prime Minister informed the speaker to  convene an emergency session of  Parliament to discuss  the current situation. .

Massive Crowd Arrived In Colombo Stormed In To President's Official Residence

 Massive  crowd arrived from various parts of the country had stormed in to the President' house and Office in Colombo Fort amidst tear gas and water cannons used against them  by Police to capture the President's house building this noon .


Around 55 persons including 04 females had been injured during the clashes with Police near the President's house and admitted to Colombo National hospital for treatment ,The condition of three of them are said to be critical ,

Well organized crowd arrived in Colombo amidst fuel shortage by trains and walked towards the  heavily guarded President's house this noon by pulled out road barricades which had been placed to prevent their entry , to capture President's house building what critics had described as most civilized way to take over the reigns of a government ,However at the time of the incident President was not inside the house and he was taken to a safe place by the security forces last evening    it has been reported .,

Protesters holding national flags and black flags had stormed in to the President's house by breaking the main gate of the premises through a Police truck it has been reported ,Meanwhile owners of the Bowsers used to fire tear gas and water cannons to protesters had later supported the protesters . . 

Protesters had  invaded the President's house demanding t he resignation of President Gotabya Rajapakshe and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe over the current economic crisis faced by the country.
