SLFP MP's Refused To Accept Cabinet Portfolios In Present Government

 The 14 MP's representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Partty (SLFP) Who became an independent group in the Parliament yesterday (05) had rejected the President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe's request to accept Ministerial  Portfolios in the new Cabinet according to the Senior Vice President of SLFP MP Nimal Siripala De Silva.



SLFP MP Group will remain in the Parliament as an Independent group respecting public appeal  he has stated ,President had requested SLFP MP's to accept Ministerial Portfolios in the Cabinet when they met him yesterday (05).The SLFP Members had requested the President to try to find a solutions for the economic crisis Sri lanka in and amend the 20th Constitution and abolish the Executive Presidency as well  .

Government Schools Received Early New Year Year Holidays

 Due to the Cutrent Exonomic Crisis in the Country Government had decided to give Sinhala/Hindu New Year holiday for all government and Government approved Schools with effect from tomorrow(07).


Eaelier Government hss planned to give new year  holidays for schools from this Friday (08)The next term of Schools will be started on 18th of April as the first school term in 2022 it has been announced.

President Removed The State Of Emergency He Had Imposed

 President Gotabaya Rajapakshe had removed the State Of Emergency  he had imposed  in the country since last friday (01)under the name public Emergency situation .


President"S secretary Gamini Senerath had issued an extra ordinary gazatte notification  regarding the removal of State Of Emergancy with effect from midnight last night(05) 

The reason behind this move  is due to the Government lost it"s majority in Parliament .

Finance Minister Ali Sabry Resigned From His Ministerial Portfolio

 One of the four Cabinet Ministers that had been appointed by President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe yesterday (04) Finance Minister  Ali Sabry had resigned from his portfolio today (05).


In a resignation letter sent to the President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe Former Minister Sabri had stated that he had accepted the Ministerial Portfolio as an interim measure and would like to accept a position in a stable government ,

42 Government MP's Remain As An Independent Group In Parliament As Govt .Lost It's Majority

 During the Parliament proceedings held today (05) 42 MP's representing allied parties of the Government have  announced that  they will remain as an Independent Group in Parliament by creating a situation that Government has lost it's majority .


Accordingly former President and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Maithripala Sirisena had announced that 14 SLFP Parliamentarians will be functioned as an independent group in the Parliament from  today and Former Minister Wimal Weerawanshe had informed the speaker that 16 members of  the Government including himself will remain as an Independent Group .

Twelve MP s representing Sri Lanka Progressive Party (Sri lanka Podujana Peramuna ) too had announced that they will remain as an independent group in Parliament.
