Government Had Decided To Re Open All Primary Classes Of Government Schools From Monday (25) Amidst Corona Threat

 Ministry Of Education has today (22) announced that Primary Section of  all Government schools from Grades 1-5 will be re- opened from next Monday (25).


According to the Secretary to the Ministry  Kapila Perera Director General Of Health Services (DGHS) Dr.Asela Gunawardane had given the Education Ministry an approval to open Primary sections of all government schools under health guidelines .

All Government schools with less then 200 students  which were shut down  due to the Corona pandemic had been reopened yesterday ,However many students and majority of Principals and teachers reported a s absent ,The primary sections of Government schools scheduled to be opened from Monday are with more than 200 students it has been revealed .

However many sections had questioned the Ministry of Education's decision to reopen primary section of Government schools at this stage whilst Corona threat is there .

Meanwhile Primary sections of all Private and Catholic schools in the island are also scheduled to be opened from next Monday it has been announced , 

12 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (22)

 Another 12 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (22) ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 13,574 according to Director General Of Health Services (DGHS).


Accordingly 07 males and 05 females had died due to the Corona infection the DGHS had stated .Out of the deceased 08 were over 60 years of age and 04 were belonged to 30-60 year age group .

First Sextuplet Birth Reported From Sri Lanka Today (21)

A female in Sri Lanka had given birth to Sextuplets at Ninewells Private Hospital in Narahenpita in wee hours of this morning (21) the first of it's kind in Sri Lanka's Medical history it has been announced .

The 03 girls and 03 boys had born through Caesarian surgery performed by a team of doctors lead by Professor Tiran Dias the head of the Caesarian Section . The parents of these Sextuplets are residents in IDH ,Colombo and the 31 year old mother and the babies are reported as in good condition and are being treated at ICU at the moment .

Sextuplet births are rare in world and less then 200 such births had been reported so far it has been reported .The incidence of occurring Sextuplet birth spontaneously is 1 per 4.7 billion population  it has been revealed .    

19 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (21)

 Another 19 Corona Deaths had been reported in the country today (21),Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 13,562 the Director General Of Health Services (DGHS).


Accordingly 11 ,males and 08 females had died due to Corona infection the DGHS has stated .Out of the deceased 15 were over 60 years of age and 04 were belonged to 30-60 year age group ,

LIOC Increased The Prices Of Petrol And Diesel

 Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) had increased the Petrol and Diesel Prices with effect from Midnight tonight (21) the Company had announced .



Accordingly a Liter of Octane -92 Petrol and a Liter  of Auto Diesel had been increased by Rs.5 the LIOC had stated .According to the new price increase the new price of a liter of Octane -92 Petrol will be Rs.162 and a Liter of Auto Diesel will be Rs.116 .

There will be no change of the prices of Super Diesel and Octane-95 Petrol the LIOC had stated .The prices of Petrol and Diesel had been increased due to the price hike of Crude oil in the world market according to the company ..

After the price increase had been announced heavy queues had seen in front of LIOC fuel stations and Ceypetco Fuel stations this evening .
