Health Professionals Had Urged The Government To Lockdown The Country To Curb the Ongoing Corona pandemic

 Many health Professionals including Medical specialists .Nurses ,Public Health Inspectors and Trade Unions /Organizations have demanded the government to imposes a strict lockdown for 3-4  weeks to curb the spread of highly infectious Delta variant in the country ,

These professionals had warned that the total capacity of hospitals will be overwhelmed if the daily Corona infections continue to rise .

Meanwhile Government Nursing Officers  Association had stated that more  than 5000 health workers including including 1000 nurses had been tested positive for corona virus in the country so far and 4 had died .  

Ministry Of Health To Import Oxygen From India Due To The Rising Demand For Oxygen Supply To Corona Patients

 Ministry of Health has decided to import 80 tons of Oxygen from India due to the rising demand for oxygen among Corona patients in hospitals according to Health Ministry sources ,

There was a 75 percent  increase in Oxygen supply  for the  Corona positives with breathing difficulties  in local hospitals last week it has been revealed ,However still there's no shortage of Oxygen in hospitals according to Ministry sources ,

2890 Corona Positives And 124 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (11)

 A total of 2890 Corona Positives and 124 Corona deaths had been reported today (11) in the country according to Director General Of Health Services (DGHS )

Accordingly the total number of Corona positives reported so far in the country had been increased to 342,079 and the total number of Corona deaths had been increased to 5464 DGHS has stated 

Out of the deceased 75 were males and 49 were females it has been revealed .95 of the deceased were of the age over 60 years .

At the moment 36,333 Corona positives are being treated at government hospitals and quarantine centers ,

Covid Control Minister Says Her Opinion Is Not Important At This Time And Urged The Public To Protect Themselves And TRheir Families From Delta Variant

 State Minister of Covid Control had today (10) appealed the public to restrict the movements and stay home to protect themselves and their families as the number of daily corona infections and deaths are on the increase .

She had told that
her opinion doesn't matter at  this time and the decision makers will make decisions .However people should not await until imposing lockdowns to protect themselves and their families from the highly infectious Delta variant which is spreading fast in the country .

The number of Corona infections reported  from Sri lanka  this week is 30 percent higher and the number of Corona deaths reported is 48.8 percent higher then the last week the Dr Fernandopulle has added , ,

Dr Fernandopul;le who is  a Senior Community Physician had tried to influence the government many times to impose lockdowns and travel restrictions to curb the spread of Corona virus  in the country since last April .However she has failed to get a majority of support from the government in this regard .
