Sri Lanka To Suspend Repatriation Of Sri Lankans Stranded In Other Countries Temporarily

Repatriation of Sri Lankans stranded in
foreign countries is due to be temporarily suspended with effect from 14 th of July according to the Additional Secretary to the president on foreign  relations Admiral Jayanath  Kolambage.

Accordingly after bringing back two batches of Sri Lankans stranded at Maldives and Jordan  due to Corona pandamic  on 12 and 13 th of July Sri Lankan Airlines will suspend the repatriation mission temporarily .

This decision had been Taken due to the increasing of Kandakadu Corona cluster and the limited space available at quarantine Centers for quarantine it has been revealed .

Updated -57 Corona Positives Were Reported Today (11)- 52 Were From.Kandakadu Cluster

A total of 57 Corona positives including
52 positives from the Kandakadu Drug Rehabilitation Center cluster and 05 from imported cluster, had been reported in the country today  (11)until 9.30 p.m according to the Epidemeology Unit.

Accordingly the total number of Corona positives in the country had been increased to 2511 the unit has stated.

Among the Corona positives reported from the Kandakadu Corona cluster  there were 30 close contacts of the inmates at Kandakadu center ,13 inmates of the center and  05 positives identified from Rajanganaya, Polonnaruwa ,02 from Welikanda area ,Polonnaruwa  and one each from Lankapura and Habaraduwa in Galle District.

Out of the 05 Corona positives reported today from the imported corona cluster 04 were arrivals from United Arab Emirates and 01 was arrival from Kuwait .

At the moment 520 Corona positives  are being treated in Government Hospitals.

Those Who Publish Fake Social Media Posts And Spreading Rumours On Corona Situation To Be Punished-Police

Those who are posting fake posts in
Social media platforms and spreading rumours ,saying coroma positives have been identified in various places in Sri Lanka will be severely punished according to the law the Police Media Spokesman Senior Supirintendent Of Police Jaliya Senaratne has stated.

There's no truth in social media posts and rumours claiming several  coroma positives have been reported from many areas in the country  during last few days he has stressed.


Police Media Spokesman has requested the public not to be mislead due to these posts and rumours and only believe the releases issued by Government Information Department and Corona prevention task .force on the Corona situation.
