President Gotabaya Rajapakshe Has Been Released From All Indictments Filed On Him Over Misusing State Funds To Construct D.A Rajapakshe Memmorial

The Permanent High Court's Trial at Bar has today (21)  released President Gotabaya  from all indictments filed over the alleged misappropriation of Rs.33.9 million public funds to construct D.A Rajapakshe Memorial Museum by stating the court has no power to continue a case against the Executive president .

The Trial at Bar of the Permanent High Court has also decided to lift the overseas travel ban imposed over Gotabaya Rajapakshe and to release his  impounded passport .

Trial at Bar has given the verdict on the case after the Deputy solicitor general Dileepa Pieris appeared behalf of the Attorney General Dappula De Livera had informed the Bar that the provisions of the constitution nor civil or criminal proceedings shall be continued against president .Therfore he had requested the court to release the defendant from all charges .

Permanent High Court Trial At Bar had  also ordered all  bondsman who appeared in court and placed bonds on behalf of the first defendant Gotabaya Rajapakshe to be released from their bonds and ordered for the cash bonds placed with the court to be released .The Trial at Bar judges had also ordered  the prosecution to inform the courts on the measures which Could be taken regarding the 06 other defendants of the case on or before 09th of January .

The  case had been filed long before the conducting of presidential elections .





TOP Police Official CID Director SSP Shani Abeysekare Has Been Transferred

The Director of Criminal Investigations
Department (CID) Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) Shani Abeysekare one of the Top and talented Police officers in the Police Department who has handled crime  cases like Royal Park Murder case and Mohommad Siam Murder ,Had been transferred to the Personal Assistant ((PA) post of Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG) in Southern
Province with immediatte effect .

The transfer has been  made by the National Police Commission accordance to the recommendation of Acting Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Chandana Wikramaratne sources have revealed.

The reason behind the demotion of the Top police officer has not yet been revealed.

SSP Shani Abeysekare is nick named as local Sherlock Holmes due to his ability to solve high profile crime  cases successfully .Few of the Crime cases handled by him were Royal.park murder case ,Udathalawinna Murder,Mohommad Siam murder and Town hall bomb incident .He is also handling several other cases including Abduction and assault of Deputy Editor Keith noyahr,Assault of Editor Upali Tennakoon ,Rathupaswela incident ,Disappearence of Cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda  at the time of his transfer .

SSP Abeysekare was appointed as Director of CID In 2017 by the good governance government.

SSP W.Thilakaratne has been appointed as the new CID Director .
