Mattress Factory In Panadura Severely Damaged Due To A Fire

,Panadura had been extensively damaged  due to a sudden fire occurred in the factory this evening (14).

Fire brigades attached to Moratuwa and Kalutara councils have doused the fire .The reason behind the fire has not yet been revealed .

Jaffna International Airport To Be Opened On 17th Of October

The newly constructed Jaffna International Airport in Palali is scheduled to be inaugurated on 17 th of October (Thursday )under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and  President Maithripala Sirisena it has been announced.

ATR-72 Aircraft of Alliance Air the subisidary of Air India carrying 70 passangers is scheduled to be arrived in Jaffna Airport in the inauguration day .

Alliance Air has already annoumced it will opetate three flights a week to Jaffna International Airport from destinations in India including Chennai .
The Jaffna Interntional Airport earlier known as Palali Airport has been renamed and expanded its facilities which began on 05 th of July after receiving Cabinet approval .

The Airport runway has been expanded under the phase one from 950 meters to 1400 meters and it will be expanded  to 2300 meters under the phase two according to sources .

The Airport will operate direct  flights to  India initially .Minister of Civil Aviation and Transport Arjuna who had submitted the cabinet paper to expand the Palali Airport towards   Jaffna International Airport had observed the progress of the work recently it has been reported .

Meanwhile Sri Lanka now have five International Airports namely Katunayaka International Airport,Jaffna International Airport ,Batticaloa International Airport ,Colombo Rathmalana International Airport and Mattala International Airport .

Addressing the United National Party  (UNP) organizers meeting in  piliyandala   today Minister Ranawake has stressed that For Rajapakshe's their members are the patriots but others are traitors  .

ƌGotabaya Rajapskshe "s American citizenship is still there and the American Government not yet been issued an official statememt regarding temoval of his   citizenship .Gotabaya has revealed his  patriotism when he was declared as the presidential candidate of Podujana peramuna last April .Although he wants to remove his American citizenship afterwards not been able to do so upto now .The person who had migrated to USA while vaccating his Army post when the war  was  on by saying he got mental issues to address now becomes a patriot suddenly "Minister has claimed .

Two Claymore Mines Weighing 15 Kilo Grammes Each Found In Kondavil ,Jaffna

Investigation Division (TID) have today (14) recovered two claymore mines weighing 15 kilo grammes each  buried in a land at warani in Kondawil ,Jaffna during war period according to Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara  .

The two mines also known as side charges had recovered based on  the information provided during questioning by Former LTTE Member Joseph Peter Robinson who was arrested by the Army at Serunuwara area last friday (11) over maintaining a Weapon store at his house in Kilinochchi area .

The 36 year old suspect had been handed over to the Serunuwara police for further investigations .Later police have raided the suspects house in Kilinochchi area where weapons ,ammunition and explosives had been recovered .

During the raid carriedout in  suspects house ,Police have arrested his 23 year old wife and 28 year old sister .

Ex LTTE Rebal Robinson along with his wife and sister are now under the custody of TID .
